Bird Watching – The Gambia is a paradise for the ornithologist. Hundreds of species of birds have been recorded in the lagoons and creeks.  The two acres of forest that we have preserved are haven for visiting birds and the tranquil environment encourages them to stay.

A short walk from the lodge are the bird sanctuaries at Brufut and Tanji. A little known but very special place is the reserve of Bijol Islands.  These are the only off-shore islands in The Gambia and are important roosting grounds for waders, gulls and terns as well as a breeding ground for green turtle.

Bush Safari – customised trips to the area of Kartong which borders Senegal and the unspoilt beaches of Gunjar and Tujereng are easily organised.

African music and drum making – local drum makers can visit the lodge to give tuition. We also know the best places for live African music.
